Sister's Chapel Cohaus Kloster Schlehdorf
Acrylic and spraypaint on acrylic glass, dimensions variable, 2023
Foto: Magdalena Jooss
In the summer of 2023, a hailstorm devastated the village of Benediktbeuern and numerous monastery windows at Cohaus Kloster Schlehdorf. The historic bull's-eye windows of the sisters' chapel are time-consuming to restore and, with the artistic intervention, are given a second protective layer of processed acrylic glass. Anna Schölß takes up the shapes and textures of the splinters and shards and, through her painterly treatment, evokes associations with crystalline structures. This aesthetic level is intended to temporarily restore the room's dignity and also, on a practical level, protect it from wind, moisture, and cold for the duration of the exhibition.
